OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL: MONDAY, AUGUST 03, 2026

Image
TOPIC: HE WHO THINKS HE STANDS I MEMORISE Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. Luke 11:35 READ : 1 Timothy 4:13-16 13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery. 15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all. 16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. MESSAGE 1 Corinthians 10:12 says that any man who thinks he is standing should take heed, or else he will fall. That tells us that a person can be standing today and fall tomorrow if he or she is not careful. Overconfidence can make someone who has been standing in the Lord for a long time fall. In my 53-year walk with God, I have witnessed many people fall due to overconfidence. They believe that because they h...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. FINISHING THE RACE. Friday November 6th 2015

Image
Memorise: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2nd Timothy 4:7 Read: 2nd Timothy 4:6-8 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Message The moment you become born-again, a race was set before you (Hebrew 12:1). This implies that until a person becomes born-again, he or she has no destination to go with God. It is the new birth in Christ Jesus that gives you a destination in God. Are you saved? If you are, there is divine destination you have been called upon. Religion and being religion can never give you a destination in Christ. If you are born-again, you are going somewhere glorious, prepared for you by the Lord Jesus Christ, both...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. HELP FROM UNWILLING HELPERS. Thursday November 5th 2015

Image
Memorise: Arises, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 1 Kings 17:9 Read: Genesis 32:24-32 24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face t...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. FREED BY THE TRUTH. Wednesday November 4th 2015

Image
Memorise: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36 Read: John 8:32-36 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Message Jesus is the only Way to salvation and the Truth that sets free. He declared that if He sets you free, you will be free indeed (John 8:36). He also said that one is set free by knowing the truth in Him (John 8:32). I am living proof of the freedom that Jesus gives, and a living witness of what it means to be set free and left free. While in my final year of secondary school in 1960, there was an altercation between my father ...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. STEALING BY LIES: NOT ALLOWED. Tuesday November 3rd 2015

Image
Memorise: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8 Read: Revelations 21:7-8 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Message In a particular church, some children and teenagers were asked to contribute some money for a specific purpose to their coordinator. After a while, the money contributed disappeared into thin air, and what was promised was never delivered. That is stealing! Such fraudulent actions can take Heaven away from its perpetrators. If you are guilty of such an act, go back and re...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. IS YOUR LOVE FOR GOD PROVEN? Monday November 2nd 2015

Image
Memorise: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8 Read: 2 Timothy 4:7-8 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Message If you can prove to God that you truly love Him, you will provoke greater love and great blessings in return. After Paul showed God how much he loved Him, not only did God perform special miracles through him while he was still alive (Acts 19:11), God also showed him glorious crown awaiting him in Heaven. How great and awesome it is to see the reward reserved for you in Heaven. Some of us desire to have this experience. While this is a good desire, the question is: have you demonstrated your love for God beyond all reasonable doubt? In fact, God made Paul aware of the time he would finish his Christian race...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. CONNECTED TO THE SPIRIT? Sunday November 1st 2015

Image
Memorise: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:4-7 Read: John 15:4-7 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Message After Moses experienced the wonders of God in multiple dimensions at the Red Sea, he wrote a song to express his awe of the God of wonders. Here is an excerpt of this song from Exodus 15:11 “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, g...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. BOASTING DISALLOWED. Saturday October 31st 2015

Memorise: And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. 1 Corinthians 8:2 Read: Psalm 49:6-7 6 They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; 7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him: Message An individual who believes he or she is wiser than other people is proud. Proverbs 26:12 says: “Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? There is more hope of a fool than of him.” It is bad enough to be a fool, but this Scripture tells us that a person who thinks he knows more than every other person is in worse shape. While there may still be a ray of hope left for the fool, the case of the proud is almost completely hopeless. 1 Corinthians 8:2 says: “And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.” It is what some people know that makes them proud (1 Corinthians 8:1). The knowledge of Go...
