TOPIC: GOD WILL EMPOWER YOU MEMORISE : “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” - (2 Peter 1:3) READ: Isaiah 41:10-13 (KJV) 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. MESSAGE : In John 20:21, Jesus Christ said, “...as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” In Matthew 10:40, He said, “He that receiveth you re

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. IT WILL BE PAID IN ARREARS! : SUNDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. James  5:4 READ: Exodus  12:30-36 30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.  31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.  32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.  33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. 34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. 35 And the children

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. HEAVEN'S TESTIMONIAL : SATURDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 2 Peter  1:17 READ: Numbers  12:4-10 12:4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.  12:5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.  12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.  12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. 12:8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?  12:9 And the anger of the L

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. RAISING YOUR CHILDREN : FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children. Isaiah  54:13 READ: 1 Samuel  2:27-33 2:27 And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?  2:28 And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?  2:29 Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?  2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. WISDOM & DEATH : THURSDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. Proverbs  1:32 READ: Proverbs  8:32-36 8:32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways.  8:33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.  8:34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.  8:35 For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.  8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death. MESSAGE Rejecting wisdom is a pathway that leads to death. Any human endeavour that is not founded on wisdom will sooner or later die a natural death. This is the reason why the Bible says in Proverbs  4:7: "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Why does the absence of wisdom result in death? I believe the story of the fox, a cunning animal known fo

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. POWER IN HIS WORD : WEDNESDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3 READ: Genesis 1:1-5 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.  1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.  1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. MESSAGE Those who fail to live according to God's word don't realise that they cannot attain their full potential in life without the power in the word, which created all things in the universe. Going against God's word is like standing in the path of a moving train. Those who do this will only succeed in wreaking havoc on themselves now and in eternity. When an engine is used co

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. PRAY FOR YOUR LEADERS : TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Brethren, pray for us. 1 Thessalonians 5:25 READ: 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:  3:2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. MESSAGE Prayer is such a potent weapon that can do and undo things in people's lives. It is so powerful that even the person praying cannot comprehend the extent of its reach. Those who walked with God in times past knew the importance of prayer, and this is what inspired Paul's request in today's memory verse. Even though he was a prayer warrior himself, he asked the brethren to continually pray for him and his team. Our Lord Jesus Christ also demonstrated the importance of prayer by often spending all night in prayer alone, encouraging His disciples also to be prayerful (Luke 18:1-8). In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus prayed for grace to accomplish the will of His F

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. AVOID THESE SEVEN ABOMINATIONS : MONDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death. Proverbs  21:6 READ: Proverbs 6:16-19 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:  6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,  6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,  6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. MESSAGE There are many things that people do that hinder their progress in life or even permanently destroy their destiny. We shall be discussing seven of these today. From today's Bible text, these seven include a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaks lies and a person who sows discord among brethren. These all are abominable in the sight of God because of the great negati

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. TEST EVERY SPIRIT : SUNDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1 READ: 1 John 2:18-24 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. 2:24 Let

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE UNCHANGEABLE GOD : SATURDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8 READ: Deuteronomy 7:1-12 1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; 2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them: 3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son. 4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly. 5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, a

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. IS IT AS TO THE LORD? : FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Ephesians 6:7 READ: Ephesians 6:5-8 5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: 8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. MESSAGE Whenever our actions are not based on pleasing the Lord, they will definitely be tainted by a purpose that is far from ideal. For example, only God knows the motive behind Cain's sacrifice in Genesis chapter 4, but it ultimately led to the murder of his younger brother. Indeed, the Holy Spirit says we should not be weary in doing good deeds (Galatians 6:9). However, the only way we will not be weary in well-doing is when we do it

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. DANGERS OF IGNORING THE POOR : THURSDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. Proverbs 21:13 READ: Matthew 25:32-46 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungered, and fed thee?  or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in pr

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. YOU CAN BE RESTORED! : WEDNESDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Job 14:7 READ: Genesis 40:1-22 1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt. 2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers. 3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound. 4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward. 5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison. 6 And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and looked upon them, and, behold, they were sad. 7 And he asked Pharaoh'

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. YOU CAN FINISH WELL! : TUESDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed:  for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 2 Timothy 1:12 READ: John 17:1-12 1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word. 7

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE NEGATIVE INFLUENCE OF WEALTH : MONDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1 Timothy 6:17 READ: Proverbs 30:7-9 7 Two things have I required of thee;  deny me them not before I die: 8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: 9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. MESSAGE Having tasted both poverty and wealth, I can categorically say that wealth is better of the two. Nevertheless, if not handled with the fear of God, wealth can have a negative influence on those who possess it. Agur's prayer in today's Bible reading is food for thought in this regard. From his prayer, we understand that wealth can influence a person to question God's relevance and deny His existence. Frankly speaking, comfort and riches can cause a

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE SOURCE OF STRENGTH : SUNDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luke 2:10 READ: Colossians 1:9-11 9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; MESSAGE Joy is a great source of strength that many people are unaware of. Nehemiah knew this and he continuously drew strength from joy on turbulent times. When the people he led were downcast, he was able to encourage them to draw strength from this same source, based on his own personal experience. He said to them in Nehemiah 8:10: “…Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. DEATH IS NOT THE END! : SATURDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: Job 19:25 READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:  and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. MESSAGE Those who consider suicide as a viable option

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. BEWARE OF THE “THIRD PARENT” : FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. 1 Corinthians 15:33 READ: 2 Samuel 13:1-15, 2 Samuel 13:25-29 1 And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. 2 And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do any thing to her. 3 But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtle man. 4 And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister. 5 And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand. 6

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL : NOTHING IS TOO BIG TO GIVE : THURSDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER 2019

MEMORISE: He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32 READ: Genesis 22:10-18 10 And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. 12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.   15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, 16 And said, By myself have

MEMORISE: The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs 11:25 READ: Matthew 15:32-39 32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. 33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? 34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 37 And they did all eat, and were filled:  and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. 38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children. 39 And
