TOPIC: GOD WILL EMPOWER YOU MEMORISE : “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” - (2 Peter 1:3) READ: Isaiah 41:10-13 (KJV) 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. MESSAGE : In John 20:21, Jesus Christ said, “...as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” In Matthew 10:40, He said, “He that receiveth you re

TOPIC:  OVERCOMING LUSTS AND TEMPTATION MEMORISE:  Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:22  READ: 1 Corinthians 10:13  13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. MESSAGE What is leading you in life? Is it your flesh or the Spirit of God? Whenever you allow the flesh to give you direction, it will always ends in regret, but when you allow the Holy Spirit to lead you in all things, you can be sure that all will be well. The first step to overcoming lusts and temptations is submission to God, which supplies the power you need to resist the devil, and he will flee from you according to James 4:7. Moreover, the good news is that the faithfulness of God will not allow his children to be tempted above their ability, without making a way of escape for them. In our Bible reading today

TOPIC:  LUST VERSUS TEMPTATION MEMORISE:  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:15  READ: James 1:12 -15 12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. 13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: 14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. MESSAGE Temptation is the pressure to yield to influences that can lead people away from God and into sins. The Bible makes it clear that all human beings are subject to temptation, but the outcome often depends on the person’s state of mind and loyalty to God. On the other hand, lust is an inordinate and compulsive desire for sex, food, riches

TOPIC:  THE SACREDNESS OF BLOOD MEMORISE:   For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Leviticus 17:11 READ: Hebrews 12:22 -24 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. MESSAGE Blood is not just important in the life of man, but also vey sacred in the sight of our creator-the Almighty God. It is so sacred that the Bible says anyone who sheds blood will have his or her blood shed also (Genesis 9:6). The first place where we saw God being angry with someone who shed the blood

TOPIC:  GOD SEEKERS II MEMORISE :   But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6 READ: John 12:20 -22 20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast: 21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. 22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. MESSAGE Yesterday, we discussed three ways we can seek God, namely - through His word, with all of our hearts and by obeying His will. Today, we shall continue to look at how we can seek God and the blessings that come to those who seek Him. We can effectively seek and find God by faith. Hebrews 11:6 says: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that she is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. It takes faith to

TOPIC:  GOD SEEKERS I MEMORISE:  As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. Psalms 42:1  READ: Psalms 42:1 -5 1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. MESSAGE God seekers are those who are comfortable with His commandments. People don't seek God today - not because they are ignorant of what they stand to gain seeking the One from who all blessings flow. Rather, they are no

TOPIC:  FEAR GOD II MEMORISE:   Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; Psalms 33:18 READ: Psalms 96:1 -9 1 O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3. Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens. 6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. 7 Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. 8 Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. 9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. TOPIC:  FEAR GOD I MEMORISE:  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 READ:  Psalms 34:1 -11 1 (A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed.) I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. 10 The you

TOPIC:  GOD STILL SPEAKS TO HIS PEOPLE II MEMORISE:   God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hebrews 1:1  READ: Hebrews 1:1 -2 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; MESSAGE Yesterday, we started discussing the reality of God still speaking to His people, even to,this present moment. In today's text, we read that though God spoke to His people through His prophets, now He speaks through His Son, Jesus Christ. This is made possible through the Holy Spirit whom Jesus sent to the Church right from the day of Pentecost. He promised: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever l have said unto you. John 14:26 God still

TOPIC:  GOD STILL SPEAKS TO HIS PEOLPE I MEMORISE In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 1 Kings 3:5  READ: Genesis 12:1 -4 1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. 4 So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. MESSAGE God still speaks to this day, but unfortunately, many people do not hear Him because they are too busy with the affairs of life. The painful thing is that people do not know what they are missing by not listening to their maker. In today's text,

TOPIC:  LOVE AND GODLINESS II MEMORISE:  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8  READ: 1 John 4:7  7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. MESSAGE Verse 8 of our text which is our memory verse, says: "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love" (1 John 4:8). This Scripture implies that not all people we find in Church know God or can be trusted. The early Church leaders did not take the issue of love lightly because they knew godliness is tested by the amount of love a believer possesses. Paul the Apostle prayed thus: And the Lord make you to increase and ab

MESSAGE One great proof of godliness is seen in the death of our Lord Jesus Christ, who sacrificed His life for us in love. He expressly commands us to love, according to John 13:34-35: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. B

TOPIC:  YOU CAN BE THE BEST MEMORISE:   Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; John 8:31 READ: Deuteronomy 28:1  1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: MESSAGE Anyone can become the best. There are however, conditions that must be fulfilled if you want to become the best. The Bible says: "I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking as servants upon the earth" (Ecclesiastes 10:7). It all depends on the readiness to pay the price. In our Bible text, we read the promises of God that assure us of being the best. However, in the same text, we read the conditions to fulfil - hearkening to the voice of the Lord,,observing and doing all His commandments  How many of us are ready to hearken to the

TOPIC:  THE ROLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT III MEMORISE:   And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30 READ: Jude 1:21 -24 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. 24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, MESSAGE Our memory verse of today reveals another very important role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer - preserving us unto the day of redemption. 'The day of redemption' in the memory verse is talking of the ultimate redemption when we safely arrive in the Kingdom of God. The reason is that there is no eternal assurance that once you are saved, you are forever saved. There are examples of people who

TOPIC:  THE ROLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT II MEMORISE:   And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:27 READ: Romans 8:26 -27 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. MESSAGE We started to look at the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian yesterday. We discovered that the Holy Spirit convicts sinners of their sins and draw them unto repentance. Today we want to look at how the Holy Spirit helps believers pray. When the Bible says that we should pray without ceasing (l Thessalonians 5:17), how can this be possible, humanly speaking? Clearly, this can only be possible
