TOPIC: GOD WILL EMPOWER YOU MEMORISE : “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” - (2 Peter 1:3) READ: Isaiah 41:10-13 (KJV) 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. MESSAGE : In John 20:21, Jesus Christ said, “...as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” In Matthew 10:40, He said, “He that receiveth you re

MEMORISE: Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. Psalm 102:13 READ: Isaiah 60:1-3 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. MESSAGE    "Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.” Isaiah 60:1-3 There are two basic instructions in the passage above- Arise and Shine. ‘Arise’ could have different meanings to different people. To the dead, ‘arise’ could mean resurrect, for example, Jarius’ daughter in Mark 5:35-42. From now on, anything dead in your life will arise in the mighty name of Jesus. To someone sleeping, it means awake. If you have been sleeping spiritually, the Lord says ‘Arise!’ To someone who

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. UNDERSTANDING LIGHT. : FRIDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2020.

MEMORISE: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:3 READ: Habakkuk 2:1-4 I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. 2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. MESSAGE   The first thing God said before creation was “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). Thousands of years later, in John 9:5, Jesus Christ said:  “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” He was and is the light of the world. Light gives vision and vision is so important that without it, people will perish (Proverbs 29:18). How great you will

MEMORISE: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 READ: Ecclesiastes 5:10-16 10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. 11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes? 12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. 13 There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. 14 But those riches perish by evil travail: and he begetteth a son, and there is nothing in his hand. 15 As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. 16 And this al

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE END MATTERS. : WEDNESDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2020.

MEMORISE: Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit. Ecclesiastes 7:8 READ:  Hebrews 12:1-4 1Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. MESSAGE   Many people are so focused on today they miss out on what is most important- the end. Esau had a bad beginning, but somewhere along the line, he repented. Instead of killing his brother, he hugged him. He became so successful

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. YOU CANNOT DECIEVE GOD. : TUESDAY 25TH FEBRUARY 2020.

MEMORISE: Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. 1Samuel 2:3 READ: Acts 5:1-11 1But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. 5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. 6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. 7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not kno

MEMORISE: And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Luke 18:1 READ:   Luke 18:1-18 1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: 3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. 4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; 5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? 9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteou

MEMORISE: Hebrews 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. READ: Psalm 37:16-27 37:16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 37:17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous. 37:18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 37:19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. 37:21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. 37:22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 37:24 Though h

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. WAGES OF SIN. : SATURDAY 22ND FEBRUARY, 2020.

MEMORISE: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  – (Romans 6:23) READ:  ROMANS 6:12-23 (KJV) 12.Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  13. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.  14. For sin shall not have dominion over you; for ye are not under the law, but under grace.  15.What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.  16. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?  17. But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18. Being then made free from sin, ye became th

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. BE UNTOUCHABLE. : FRIDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2020.

MEMORISE: Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. 1Chronicles 16:22 READ: Job 1:10 10. Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. MESSAGE   In the spirit realm, certain people are termed ‘untouchable.’ These ones have a wall of fire around them that make them too hot to be touched- even by the devil. The moment you become a child of God; you have access to this group. Some Christians have once been secure, but somehow the devil seems to be touching them now. If you are in this category, it could be that God deliberately allowed the devil or you have backslidden and exposed yourself to danger. Job was untouchable until God permitted the devil. He was untouchable because he lived a holy life and prayed regularly. If you are still telling ‘small lies’, the devil will not need permission from God before he touches you because h

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE EFFICACY OF PRAYER. : THURSDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2020.

Image
MEMORISE: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 READ: Mark 11:24 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. MESSAGE   There is a mistake to some children and enemies of God- they underrate the efficacy of prayer. Prayer is the control tool in the spiritual realm. While it may appear that nothing is happening in the physical, the truth is things are shaping up in the spiritual. Someone could argue that prayer does not put food on the table, but that’s not true. Sometimes ago, one of my spiritual daughters abroad delivered a set of twins. Unfortunately, not long after, they lost their means of livelihood and life became very difficult. One day, there was nothing to eat and the husband was not home. So, the woman resorted to praying, and petting the twins who were crying in hunger. Meanw

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. RESPOND WITH LOVE. : WEDNESDAY 19TH FEBRUARY 2020.

Image
MEMORISE: A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 READ: 1 Corinthians 13:2 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. MESSAGE   “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” Matthew 5:44 As Christians we are called to a lifestyle of love- unconditional love even towards enemies and unfriendly people. Some years ago, I went to see a man in his office and although he knew I had arrived, he kept me waiting. He probably thought I would get angry and leave, but I waited patiently. Finally, after several hours, he came in to attend to me and met me smiling. He found it hard to believe. “You waited?” He asked and I responded “Yes sir.” Immediately, his previously unfriendly countenance toward

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. HOSPITALITY A DUTY FOR ALL CHRISTIANS. : TUESDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2020.

Image
MEMORISE: Use hospitality one to another without grudging. I Peter 4:9 READ: 1 Peter 4:9-10 9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. 10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. MESSAGE   The central message of Christianity is love, so much so that when Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He answered:  “…..Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. ” Matthew 22:37-40 Hospitality is the duty of every Christian and in fact, should be our way of life. See every encounter you have with people as an opportunity to show forth the love of God. Help people. You should never be rude or unaccommodating to anyone, God expects you to be hospitable to anyone you c

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. THE POWER OF YOUR WORDS : MONDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2020

MEMORISE: Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Joel 3:10 READ: 2 Kings 4:18-37 4:18 And when the child was grown, it fell on a day, that he went out to his father to the reapers.   4:19 And he said unto his father, My head, my head. And he said to a lad, Carry him to his mother.   4:20 And when he had taken him, and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died.   4:21 And she went up, and laid him on the bed of the man of God, and shut the door upon him, and went out.   4:22 And she called unto her husband, and said, Send me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses, that I may run to the man of God, and come again.   4:23 And he said, Wherefore wilt thou go to him to day? it is neither new moon, nor sabbath. And she said, It shall be well.   4:24 Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee.   4:25 So she we

MEMORISE: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2 Timothy 2:19 READ: 2 Peter 2:20-22 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. MESSAGE   Indeed, I was puzzled when I first saw David described as a man after God’s heart. This was someone who had committed grave sins that made God angry. How could he then be a man after God’s heart? When I studied abo
