OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL: FRIDAY JANUARY 17TH 2025

TOPIC: DON'T OUTGROW CORRECTIONS MEMORISE:  While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Hebrews 3:15 READ : Proverbs 15:10-12 10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die. 11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? 12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise. MESSAGE For every action or inaction, there are consequences. This is why you should consider it a great privilege when you have people around you who can correct you whenever you do something wrong so that you do not have to suffer terrible consequences. Unfortunately, some people do not listen to corrections. The Bible refers to such people as servants. A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. Proverbs 29:19 You can choose between being corrected by words or by consequences. If you...

TOPIC:  HE CAN DEFEND THE DEFENCELESS MEMORISE:  I  will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Psalms 91:2  READ: John 10:7 -14 7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. 14 I am the good ...

TOPIC:  PRAYERS FOR YOUTHS MEMORISE:  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; Isaiah 11:2  READ: Isaiah 11:1 -5 1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the gi...

TOPIC:  HE CAN CURE THE INCURABLE MEMORISE:  Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? Jeremiah 32:27  READ: Mark 2:1 -12 1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house. 2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. 4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, 7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only? 8 And immediately when Jes...

TOPIC: HE CAN CONTROL THE UNCONTROLABLE MEMORISE:  The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Proverbs 21:1  READ: Psalms 135:1 -12 1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD. 2 Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God, 3 Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant. 4 For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. 5 For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. 6 Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. 7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries. 8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast. 9 Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pha...

TOPIC:  HE CAN REVERSE THE IRREVERSIBLE MEMORISE:   I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8 READ: Ezekiel 37:1 -14 1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, 2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the...

TOPIC:  FROM PROPHECY TO DECREE  MEMORISE:   For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. Psalms 33:9 READ: Psalms 33:8 -9 8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. MESSAGE  There are some differences between a prophecy and a decree. When a prophecy comes, that is a promise and when God makes a promise, He will definitely fulfill it at the appropriate time and with the proper conditions. However, when He makes a decree, the fulfillment is immediate and without any conditions. The prayer of every Christian should be that God should turn every prophecy into a decree in their favor. Abraham had received the prophecy that he would be a father of nations, but somehow the fulfillment was taking time to manifest. The day Abraham invited God to eat, every prophecy concerning childbirth became a decree. That day, He brought what was to c...

TOPIC :  YOU CAN'T COMMAND YOUR MASTER MEMORISE :  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:16  READ: Mark 3:23 -27 23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. MESSAGE   And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  Ephesus 2:6 That Bible passage above is not for everybody, it is for only those who live holy. Psalm 24:3-4 says: Who shall ascend into the hill of the...

TOPIC:  WHEN YOU MUST BE VIOLENT  MEMORISE:   And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. Matthew 11:12 READ: Matthew 18:18  18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. MESSAGE   Some Christians are so gentle that they accommodate the devil and his agents in their lives, claiming the Bible says we should be gentle as a dove. The Bible says that it is only the violent that can take the kingdom of God by force. The devil will do, everything to ensure you don't enter the kingdom of God; it is with violence that you will take it. If you are at peace when you should be fighting, the devil will roast you. You must be violent when the devil is confronting you with a situation that can kill you. Any situation that can destroy your destiny or your spiritual life is not one to toy w...

TOPIC: WHEN TEMPTATION KEEPS KNOCKING  MEMORISE:   Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8 READ: 1 Peter 5:8 -10  8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. MESSAGE  The devil is a crafty being. When he senses the glorious destiny of a person, he does everything in his power to ensure that the fellow does not fulfill that destiny. He, however, cannot succeed except the person commits a sin and God leaves the person alone. When he heard the dream that Joseph had, he knew that the boy had a glorious...

TOPIC: BECAUSE YE ASK NOT MEMORISE:  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Matthew 7:8  READ: Matthew 7:7 -11 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? MESSAGE   Many at times Christians give themselves headache over what should not be a problem at all. You have a Father in heaven who is the Almighty and owns the entire world and all that is in it, yet you bother your brain so much about your needs when you can easily ask Him and He will ...

TOPIC:  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ll MEMORISE:  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Acts 2:21  READ: 2 Kings 2:15 -22 15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him. 16 And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send. 17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not. 18 And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not? 19 And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of...

TOPIC:  ENOUGH IS ENOUGH l MEMORISE:   And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites. Exodus 3:8 READ: 2 Kings 4:1 -7 1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. 2 And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. 3 Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. 4 And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy so...

TOPIC:  BENEFITS OF WITNESSING lll MEMORISE:  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14  READ: Romans 8:19 -23 19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. 20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. MESSAGE   Every athlete on the racetrack is always looking forward to reaching the finish line. The Heavenly race is not a sprint but a ma...

TOPIC:  BENEFITS OF WITNESSING II MEMORISE:   Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16 READ: Matthew 28:18 -20 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. MESSAGE   We will consider another benefit of witnessing today and this will be drawn from our memory Verse taken from John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but l have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name...

TOPIC:  BENEFITS OF WITNESSING l MEMORISE: Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. 1 Corinthians 3: 8 Read: Daniel 12:3  3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. MESSAGE  There are several benefits to gain from telling people about Jesus Christ. May be if you knew the benefits, you would preach the gospel some more. Today, we will discuss just one of the numerous benefits of sharing the gospel of Christ and this is found in our Bible reading for today: You will become a star when you preach Chris's gospel. For example, the more people you bring to the Almighty God, the more children in the Lord you will have. I am yet to see someone who was not grateful to the person who preached to and led him or her from the path to hell. Even today, l bless God for the man who brought me to The Redeeme...

TOPIC :  WHO DO YOU BELONG TO? MEMORISE:  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 1 John 3:10 READ: 1 John 3:8 -10 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. MESSAGE   Many people claim to be God's children however, it is only those who truly follow in the footsteps of Jesus that are genuinely His children. 1 John 3:10 further confirms that those who do righteousness are God's children while those who follow evil belong to the devil. A...

TOPIC:  YOU SHALL LAUGH LAST MEMORISE :   And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. Psalms 27:6 READ: Romans 12:19 -21 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. MESSAGE   Every now and then, the devil brings challenges the way of Christians. Sometimes these challenges are so great that he is laughing already because he believes there is no way out, but l pray for you today: you will laugh last in Jesus' name. Consider the story of the widow of one of the sons of the prophet in 2 Kings 4:1-7. She was heavily in debt and her creditors had thr...

TOPIC:  THE YOKE IS BROKEN MEMORISE:    For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder. Nahum 1:13 READ: Isaiah 10:27  27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. MESSAGE   A yoke is something placed around the neck of an animal to control and restrict its movement. There are many people walking around with heavy yokes placed on their necks by the devil. Today, any yoke that the devil has placed on you will be broken in Jesus' name. The concluding part of Isaiah 10:27 says "...and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing." Since anointing can be passed through radiation, today by the special grace of God, anointing is going to be passing from this devotional to you and that anointing will break every yoke in your life in Jesus' name. In Judges 6:3-6, we see the people of Is...

TOPIC :  WHAT IS YOUR MEAT? MEMORISE:   Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. John 4: 34 READ: Luke 2:40 -49 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. 43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. 44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. 46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. 47 And all that hea...
