OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL: FRIDAY JANUARY 17TH 2025

TOPIC: DON'T OUTGROW CORRECTIONS MEMORISE:  While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Hebrews 3:15 READ : Proverbs 15:10-12 10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die. 11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? 12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise. MESSAGE For every action or inaction, there are consequences. This is why you should consider it a great privilege when you have people around you who can correct you whenever you do something wrong so that you do not have to suffer terrible consequences. Unfortunately, some people do not listen to corrections. The Bible refers to such people as servants. A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. Proverbs 29:19 You can choose between being corrected by words or by consequences. If you...

TOPIC: PRAYERS FOR 2025 MEMORISE :  Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. Psalm 65:11 READ : Isaiah 45:1-3 1 Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; 2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. PRAYERS 1. Father, thank You for keeping me throughout 2024. It is by Your mercy that I was not consumed. I am truly grateful Lord. 2. Father, please help me to move forward in fulfilling Your purpose for my life in the coming year. Please make 2025 far better than 2024, in Jesus’ name. 3. Father, please go ahead...

TOPIC: FORGET THE THINGS OF THE PAST MEMORISE :  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Philippians 3:13 READ : Isaiah 43:18-19  18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. MESSAGE We have come to the end of another year, and I believe that many people are thinking about how the year turned out. Many may even begin to feel that there are certain things that they should have done better. It is normal to have such feelings, as they can help a person to make better decisions in the future. However, it is unfruitful to dwell on the past. There is nothing to gain from living in regret about the past. Beloved, it is time to put the past behind you and begin to look for...

TOPIC: HANDLING CRITICISMS MEMORISE:  Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Hebrews 12:11 READ: Proverbs 15:31-32 31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. 32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. MESSAGE A lot of people think that being a leader means that whatever they say or do is final and should not be questioned. If you are making any progress in life criticisms will definitely come. When the Redeemed Christian Church of God was just a small church with headquarters in a small corner of Ebute-metta, no one criticized us. Now that we have branches all around the world, criticisms come in from everywhere. This is a sign of growth, and rather than being sad about it, l am happy that we have grown. Some people will criticize you out of love becau...

Topic: EXAMINE YOURSELF MEMORISE :  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13: 5 READ: 1 Corinthians 11:31-32  31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. MESSAGE In Isaiah 6:1-5, Isaiah beheld God's glory and holiness, and he cried, "Woe is me!" Before then, he had been prophesying, and everyone saw him as holy. However, he looked at himself in the light of God's glory and holiness and saw the real state he was in. Beloved, it is important to have a self-reflection every now and then. Don't rely solely on what people say about you because they might not know you as well as you know yourself. They might not know the thoughts of your heart or what you do behind closed doors. Therefore, you need to look closely ...

TOPIC: REDEMPTION MEMORISE:   In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians 1:7 READ: 1 Peter 2:6-12 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 11 ...

TOPIC: THE REASON FOR HIS BIRTH IV MEMORISE :  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Romans 8:11 READ: Mark 16:16-20  16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. MESSAGE Today, I will be concluding the study on the reason for the birth of Jesus Christ by looking at t...

TOPIC: THE REASON FOR HIS BIRTH III MEMORISE :  And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. me. 2 Corinthians 6:16 READ : Galatians 4:5-7  5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. MESSAGE Over the last two days, I 'have been discussing the reason for the birth of Jesus Christ, and I will go a little further today. Before He was born, the Holy Spirit could only come upon certain individuals. However, after Jesus Christ came to the earth and ascended back into heaven. He sent the Holy Spirit to live inside every believer (John 14: 16-17). This is why He said in Matt...

TOPIC: THE REASON FOR HIS BIRTH II MEMORISE : “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.” - (Hebrews 2:17) READ : 1 JOHN 2:1-6 (KJV) 1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. MESSAGE : Today, I will continue the teaching I started yesterday o...

TOPIC: THE REASON FOR HIS BIRTH 1 MEMORISE :  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 READ : Matthew 1:18-23  18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a ...

TOPIC: BE HOLY MEMORISE:  And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. Leviticus 20:26 READ : 1 Peter 1:15-16  15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. MESSAGE When God says you should be holy as He is, it is not for His good. God is Almighty and All Sufficient, so your holiness will not add or remove anything from Him. Whether you decide to live holy or not, God will remain God. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Sin brings troubles, sorrow, chaos, and a low quality of life to sinners. It is a burden on the heart of a sinner. This is why lie detectors are able to detect lies because a person's heart goes through stress whenever he or she tells a lie. Many people do not live long because their heart is always stressed due to the atrocities they commit. It is wise to live holy; living holy brings ...

TOPIC: THE LORD WHO COVERS YOU MEMORISE:   And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8 READ: Isaiah 41:10-13  10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. MESSAGE The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. Psalm 121:5 Shade, in the Scripture above, is referring to a cover over you. T...

TOPIC: THE LORD WHO PROVIDES FOR YOU MEMORISE :  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 READ : 2 Corinthians 9:8-11  8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. 10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) 11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. MESSAGE God has a provision for all your needs even before you ask Him. For example, God went ahead of Abraham to provide a ram to be sacrificed in place of Isaac. This was the point where Abraham identified God as the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14). I pray that the Lord will meet you at eve...

TOPIC: THE TRUTH THAT MAKES YOU FREE MEMORISE :   And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32 READ : John 16:13  13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 8:36  36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 17:17 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. MESSAGE Jesus referred to Himself as the Truth in John 14:6. Since the Bible tells us in today's memory verse that the truth shall make you free, it means that if you have Jesus, you are free from bondage. John 8:36 says, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." If you have the Son, it means that you can never be in any kind of bondage. The devil destroys many people by putting them in bondage. Also, when he sees that he cannot stop believers from s...

TOPIC: THE LORD THAT HEALS YOU MEMORISE:  Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. Jeremiah 33:6 READ : Mark 1:29-45 29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 3 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. 31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. 32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. 35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. 36 ...

TOPIC: GOD'S PROMISES MEMORISE :  There failed not ought of any good thing which the Lord had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass. Joshua 21:45 READ : Hebrews 6:10-15  10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. MESSAGE You can get a lot of strength from God's promises Numbers 23:19 says that God is not like the people who make promises that they do not keep. When God makes you a pr...

TOPIC: DIVINE LOVE MEMORISE :   For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee. Isaiah 54:10 READ: Jeremiah 31:3-6  3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee. 4 Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. 5 Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. 6 For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God. MESSAGE The love of Christ avails us of so many benefits. For example, Roman 8:37 says: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquero...

TOPIC: THE WORD OF GOD MEMORISE :  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Psalm 119:130 READ : 2 Timothy 3:14-17 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. MESSAGE When the Lord was tempted by the devil in Matthew 4:1-11, the weapon our Lord used was, "It is written." The devil could not argue against that weapon; all he did was to also quote the word of God and try to give it a wrong interpretation. Psalm 119:89 says: For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. The word of Go...

TOPIC: THE BLOOD OF JESUS MEMORISE:  And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Colossians 1:20 READ: 1 Peter 1:18-19 18 For as much as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: MESSAGE The blood of Jesus is more powerful than many people think. It is a potent weapon that can be used to easily overcome our adversary, the devil, and his cohorts as we see in Revelations 12:10-11: And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the w...

TOPIC: THE NAME OF JESUS MEMORISE:  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:134 READ: Philippians 2: 9-11  9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. MESSAGE In today's Bible reading, we are made to understand that at the name of Jesus, all knees should bow. This means that you can take total control of any situation by using the name of Jesus. In 1 Samuel 17:42-51, David said to Goliath, "You have come with all these weapons, But l come against you in the name of the Lord of Host" By the time the battle was over, Goliath had lost his head. There is so much power in the name of Jesus. If you ask for anything in His name, you will see it happen because John 14:14 sa...
