TOPIC: WHO DO PEOPLE SAY YOU ARE? MEMORISE : “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” - (Matthew 16:13) READ: Matthew 16:13-16 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. MESSAGE : Today’s topic is a question you must be conscious of. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus asked His disciples whom people said that He was. He wasn’t confused about His identity; He knew who He was, but He was concerned about how people perceived Him. You must be conscious of how people perceive you too. People will only relate with you based on what they think about you and not what you th

TOPIC: YOU NEED THE LIGHT OF GOD!

MEMORISE:
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:3

READ: Genesis 1:1-5

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

MESSAGE:
The first challenge that confronted the earth was darkness and this is what God first dealt with in the creation story, according to Genesis chapter one. May the Lord deal with every form of darkness that has hitherto plagued your life in Jesus name. When an individual gropes in darkness, he or she is likely to fall into a pit and thereby end his or her life prematurely. In other words, darkness is potentially harmful. This is why there must be light and there will be light in your life today, in Jesus’ name.

God said “Let there be light” and there was light (Genesis 1:3). One lesson we must quickly learn here is that it was when God spoke His word that the miracle of light occurred.

Many modern-day Christians close up their hearts to the word of God. This is the reason many are in Church for years and their lives remain the same. They came sick and remain sick; they came bound and remain bound. What a waste of opportunity! My prayer is that the word of God will penetrate your life today and you will experience the miracle of the light of the Living God.

When there is darkness, there can be no positive activity. God knew this and that was the reason He first tackled the problem of darkness when He created the earth. The devil represents the darkness in this world and that is why you need the light of God. Revelation 12:12 says:
“Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

When there is no activity because of darkness, stagnation is inevitable. When God says “Let there be light”, it could mean the recovery of sight to the blind. It could mean healing to the sick or the coming of a joyous morning according to Psalm 30:5.” Let there be light” could mean the end of suffering disappointment.

Thus, if you are reading this devotional and are yet to come into the light of God in Jesus Christ, today is the day of salvation, healing, breakthrough, and deliverance; now is the acceptable time (2 Corinthians 6:2). You need the light of God today. Go for it in prayer.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please send Your Light into my life, today, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Luke 5-6.

HYMN 14:   JESUS MY LORD, MY GOD MY ALL.

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all,
hear me, blest Savior, when I call;
hear me, and from thy dwelling place
pour down the riches of thy grace.

Refrain:
Jesus, my Lord, I thee adore;
O make me love thee more and more.

2. Jesus, too late I thee have sought;
how can I love thee as I ought?
And how extol thy matchless fame,
the glorious beauty of thy name? [Refrain]

3. Jesus, what didst thou find in me
that thou hast dealt so lovingly?
How great the joy that thou hast brought,
so far exceeding hope or thought!

4. Jesus, of thee shall be my song;
to thee my heart and soul belong;
all that I have or am is thine,
and thou, blest Savior, thou art mine.
