TOPIC: DISCERNING OF SPIRITS I MEMORISE:  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14 READ : 1 John 4:1-3 1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. MESSAGE Many children of God have fallen into the devil’s trap because they lacked the gift of the discerning of spirits. Usually, the messengers that the devil sends to believers appear as angels of light (2 Corinthians 11:14). They usually seem harmless and very Iikeable, such that believers let their guards down around them and put their trust in them. By the time ...

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL: SUNDAY 26th SEPTEMBER 2021

TOPIC: YOU WILL BE COMMENDED!

MEMORISE:
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Revelation 22:12

READ: Matthew 25:19-21

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

MESSAGE:
Man is wonderfully and fearfully made. Created in the image of God, man is a “god” to other forms of creation, according to Psalm 82:6, which is re-established in John 10:34. God Almighty created man for a divine purpose and for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11). At the same time, God has prepared a reward for every man who chooses to fulfil His purpose for his life (Revelation 22:12).

In today’s Bible test, we read of the faithful servant who made good use of the talents given to him by his master and received a commendation. Jesus Christ said in John 15:16:
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”

The Lord is encouraging someone reading this devotional today that He is taking note of your labor of love in the Church and to humanity. Though your pastor or head of department may not commend you, the Almighty God will reward you handsomely if you will not be weary in well-doing, according to Galatians 6:9 which says:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Peter asked the Lord what their reward would be, seeing that they left everything to follow Him. Jesus answered in Mark 10:29-30 and said:
“…Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.”

Beloved, accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior if you haven’t done so yet. After this, begin to work for Him, serve Him and His Church through soulwinning and sacrificial giving. You will surely be commended. Recall that our memory verse says “I come quickly and my reward is with me…..”

ACTION POINT:
Think of a way to work for God, using your talents and resources to expand His kingdom on earth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Proverbs 23-24.

HYMN 23:   JESUS MY LORD, MY GOD, MY ALL.

1. Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all!
How can I love Thee as I ought?
And how revere this wondrous gift,
So far surpassing hope or thought?

Refrain:
Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore!
Oh, make us love Thee more and more.
Oh, make us love Thee more and more.

2. Had I but Mary's sinless heart
With which to love Thee, dearest King,
Oh, with what ever fervent praise,
Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing!

3. Thy Body, Soul and Godhead, all!
O mystery of love divine!
I cannot compass all I have,
For all Thou hast and art is mine!

4. Sound, then, His praises higher still,
And come, ye angels, to our aid;
For this is God, the very God
Who hath both men and angels made!
