TOPIC: PRIDE COMES BEFORE A FALL I MEMORISE : The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. Psalm 10:4 READ : Daniel 4:29-37 29 At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon. 30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty? 31 While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. 32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. 33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his bod...

MEMORISE:
Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Zechariah 4:7

READ: Psalm 2:1-5

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.

5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

MESSAGE:
The Psalmist wrote “I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.” Why? He continued “For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” (Psalm 69:8-9). This is equally the lamentation of those who would live a righteous life on this earth.

Wickedness is becoming the accepted norm of society while worldliness has become the order of present-day Christendom. It now appears as if the more ungodly you are- even as a pastor, the more acceptable you would be to the people and your congregation. This is the reason more people are adopting the slogan “The end justifies the means”.

The most painful thing that the ungodly who were previously outside the church are not just in it today, but are also taking leadership positions. They are even persecuting those trying to go the extra mile with the Master. In John 15:19, Jesus Christ told His disciples and by extension all His followers:
“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”

David wondered in Psalm 2:1-3 why the heathens raged and even rulers were against the Lord and His people. The answer is found in John 1:5, which says that darkness cannot comprehend or overcome light. We are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14).

Beloved, in spite of persecutions, let us keep our eyes on the Lord. The persecutions shall surely end at the second coming of Jesus. The Lord is encouraging you to endure the present persecution you may be passing through now. You will soon experience an all-round promotion in Jesus’ name. praise the Lord!

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please give me the grace to stand strong in the faith now and always, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 8:  HO, MY COMRADES! SEE THE SIGNAL.
1. Ho, my comrades, see the signal, waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

o Refrain:
“Hold the fort, for I am coming,” Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to Heaven, “By Thy grace we will.”

2. See the mighty host advancing, Satan leading on;
Mighty ones around us falling, courage almost gone!

3. See the glorious banner waving! Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s Name we triumph over every foe.

4. Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near;
Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades, cheer!
