TOPIC: DON'T OUTGROW CORRECTIONS MEMORISE:  While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. Hebrews 3:15 READ : Proverbs 15:10-12 10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die. 11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? 12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise. MESSAGE For every action or inaction, there are consequences. This is why you should consider it a great privilege when you have people around you who can correct you whenever you do something wrong so that you do not have to suffer terrible consequences. Unfortunately, some people do not listen to corrections. The Bible refers to such people as servants. A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer. Proverbs 29:19 You can choose between being corrected by words or by consequences. If you...

CONTROLLER OF MEN AND ANGELS Saturday March 31

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? Hebrews 1:14 Read: Daniel 6:6-23 G od is the King of kings, and as a result He is in control. He controls the heavens and the earth, as well as those in them. He controls human beings and can use them to render help to the needy. In 2 Kings 5:1-14, God prompted a young maid to speak of His ability and the word got the attention of a needy general, which helped to link him with his much-needed miracle. When God prompts you to do or say something, do you obey? You cannot tell the far-reaching effects of that obedience! God controls all His subjects including earthly kings. When a king controls his domain and wants things done, all he may be required to do would be to instruct people to carry out the assignment. Everyone God needs to command to work in your favour will receive their commands from the Almighty ...

CROWNED WITH GLORY 30 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Psalm 8:5 Read: Psalm 8:4-5 T he royalty a child of God is born into is an eternal one because our Father has an unchangeable Kingdom. When I was in primary school, we studied a subject called civics. During that subject period they could ask: Who is the minister of education and finance and you would give their names. But today, if you ask your child, who is the minister of education? That child may ask you: for which year? Because they change portfolio so often this days, particularly in a country like Nigeria. But in the Kingdom of God, if God makes you a minister or governor, it is forever! Praise God! Our Father also is the Great Physician according to Exodus 15:26 hence, all He needs do is speak and we are healed. Psalm 107:20 says He removes sicknesses just by the word of His mouth. Are you sick in your ...

KNOWING HIM Thursday 29 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever Amen. 1 Timothy 1:17 Read: Isaiah 6:1-3 W ho can truly understand God? After spending three and a half years with Jesus and becoming the closest disciple to the Lord, when John the Beloved saw the same Jesus in glory, he could not recognize Him. He fell down as a dead man at His feet. Who can understand He who in 1 Timothy 1:17 is called the invisible God, yet He says if you seek me you will find me (Jeremiah 29:13)? How can you find Someone who is invisible? The truth is, whenever we discuss God, we only try to grasp whatever we can about Him but can never fully comprehend Him. We will have the whole of eternity to understand Him more, because even the angels who have been with Him for so long are still uncovering some things they never knew about Him. When you meet a man from the first time, it is common p...

KEEP HOPE INTACT Wednesday 27 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil. Hebrews 6:19 Read: Hebrews 6:17-20 I f you lose all your earthly possessions but retain your hope for a better tomorrow, all will be well. But if you lose hope, you have lost everything. One important instrument ships have is the anchor. When they get to a particular destination and want to stop, they will release the anchor. The waves may toss the ship here and there but it will not get beyond a particular circumference permitted by the chain tied to the anchor. By the use of an anchor, the wind and waves of the sea are unable to have their way with the ship – i.e. to carry it to an undesirable location in an uncontrolled manner. Today’s memory verse compares hope to an anchor of the soul that keeps it intact in spite of very contrary winds and circumstances. May your anchor of hope remain in...

HOW ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS? Tuesday 27 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. Matthew 15:19 Read: Matthew 15:16-20 I n life, the greatest victory a man can ever have is victory over the flesh because your number one enemy is not the devil but your flesh. However, thanks be to God for Christ has given us this victory. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. Galatians 5:24 The question then is: are you exerting your victory over the flesh in your day to day living or are you still being defeated by this defeated foe? If you defeat all your external enemies but fail to conquer yourself, you are less than a conqueror. David killed Goliath the external enemy but because he could not conquer himself, he was defeated by his flesh. Until you conquer yourself by exerting your victory in Christ, victory over external enemies would...

IS HE REALLY LATE? Monday 26 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastics 3:11 Read: John 11:1-6 G od is God of plan and purpose. He does everything according to His timetable. For instance, the era we live in today is somewhere in God’s eternal plan for man. Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 clearly tells us that God has a set time for everything and that He follows His timetable and not that of man. Even when you have drawn up your timetable and want to squeeze God into it, do not be disappointed if He does not follow it. Going by His timetable, He is never too early or too late in any event. After the death of Lazarus and the Lord was sent for, the sisters of Lazarus were disappointed at the time He arrived, saying they wished He had been there earlier (John 11:20-24). To them He came late, but Jesus was on tim...

GRACE IN ACTION Sunday 25 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8 Read: Luke 8:1-3 O ccasionally, individuals, families, communities or governments organise special events such as special wedding receptions, state banquets, special awards, etc where entry would strictly be by invitation. At such gatherings, some uninvited guests could manage to gatecrash. At the gate, they would be asked for their pass and in reply they will say they have none but are there in company of someone who has a pass. They may be allowed in purely out of mercy. Like the uninvited guests, believers can only come to the dinner table of the Lord out of sheer mercy. None of us is qualified to dine with the King of kings except by grace. Romans 6:23 says sin kills and all have sinned and are wanting in glory (Romans 3:23). Sin has wages and pays the sinner the wages they will never like. Psalm 107:17-2...

KING OF KINGS Saturday 24 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:16 Read: Acts 16:25-26 W hat makes a king different from other people? Although a king looks just like any other person yet he is not an ordinary person. One difference is that everything he touches becomes unique. If an ordinary person sits on a chair, it remains a chair no matter how flamboyantly designed it is, but if a king sits on a chair, it becomes a throne. When an ordinary person wears a cap, it remains a cap, but when a king wears a cap, it becomes a crown. Walking stick in the hands of ordinary fellow has no special value, but if that same walking stick is found in the hand of a king, it becomes a staff of office. One of the titles of our Lord is King of kings. This is an amazing title because it carries His brethren along. That is, if you belong to Him, you have automatically become a king unde...

HEAVENLY ROYALTY Friday 23 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 1:6 Read: Revelation 1:5-6 G od loves little children so much because they are His heritage. While the Lord was on the earth, smart parents knew this so they brought their children to Him for His divine touch (Luke 18:15). Unfortunately, His disciples were so ignorant that they turned such parents away until the Lord Jesus corrected them. Have your children received a divine touch? Have you brought them to Him and dedicated them to the one who owns and gave them to you? At the point of entry into this world, all children are born equal – hungry, in need of cleaning, undeveloped and naked. Job stressed this when he said: … Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither… Job 1:21 Nobody came dressed up at the point of entry, but within minutes of delivery...

BEYOND UNDERSTANDING! Thursday, March 22, 2012

Memorize: Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. Isaiah 40:28 Read: Isaiah 40:21-28 God is love. It is commonly assumed that everybody knows who God is but this is not true. Some years ago, while in France, I was opportune to be a guest of the then Nigeria Ambassador to France. He organized a reception for me one evening and invited other ambassadors. At some point, I was asked to bring greetings to those around so I used the opportunity to talk about the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God. At the end of the talk, I made an altar call and about four of the ambassadors received Christ. By the time we began to eat, one of the ambassadors came to me and asked: “What is God?” It was then it dawned on me that I talked about the Son of God without introducing who God is. Who ...

MANIFEST YOUR EMPOWERED STATE Wednesday 21 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Say unto God, How terrible are thou in thy works through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee. Psalm 66:3 Read: Psalm 66:3-4 W hen you walk in the revelation that you ought to operate as a god in this world (Psalm 82:6), the door of several possibilities open unto you. You will be able to command God concerning the works of His hands just as Joshua instructed the sun to standstill at Gibeon, and the moon in the valley of Ajalon until victory was obtained (Joshua 10:12). Yes, the sun and moon will obey your instructions! The rain will also obey you and not disturb a programme held in honour of the King of Glory such as a church service or crusade. Similarly, as a god in this world, you will be capable of parting the sea like Moses, Elijah and Elisha or walking on the sea like Jesus. The sea will simply obey your will because the Master of ocean and earth and skies is fully vis...

HEAVEN’S AIR FRESHENER Tuesday 20 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2 Read: Revelation 5:8-9 I mmediately the lamb stepped out, He took the sealed scroll from God’s hand and the four living beings and the 24 elders knew that the One in control had come. The praise took a different form as each of them got harps ready to praise Him. The elders also had vials in their hands filled with some kind of aroma which was the prayers of the saints. This implies that after you are born again and you pray, your prayers are collected in those golden vials by the elders and stored to be offered to God as a sweet smelling aroma. From this peep into Heaven, we understand that one common duty in Heaven is singing and praising God. This shall continue for the rest of eternity. Many who cannot play instruments here may have to learn it there. So the more you learn to praise God with...

WHY YOU MUST HEAR HIM Monday 19 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8 Read: Isaiah 6:8-10 K nowing that two persons cannot walk together except they agreed (Amos 3:3), it becomes imperative to know that God as a partner, speaks and to hear Him when He speaks. If you cannot hear Him when he speaks, you will not know when He is calling you, or when He wants to send you on an errand or even what His heart is focused on. It takes people hearing Him to repent or obey Him. It takes you hearing him to conform to His expectations. When last did you hear His voice? Many are sick in one area or the other. Some are sick physically, mentally, spiritually or emotionally. There are those who will not commit adultery but while on their beds alone, they entertain such evil thoughts. You need to hear Him so that you can live the triumphant life. Moreover, it is ...

ON GIVING Sunday 18 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not. Proverbs 21:26 Read: Proverbs 21:25-26 S everal years ago, someone came to my office and gave me an envelope containing #100 with a note. On the note wrote. “I did not want to give you this money but God said I must”. I told the Lord, “I don’t need this #100 now, why did you compel this man to give it to me?” When I got no answer, I kept it. Later that evening, a man came from Kwara state, Nigeria and after we had discussed, he asked to spend the night in my house which I obliged him. The following day, he told me he had no transport fare, and then I remembered the #100 given to me and I gave it to him. About a week later, another fellow sent me an envelope containing #100 but without a note. So I knew that this second gift was for me. God is looking for those who would be His treasurers and channels of blessings. As He finds ...

RECOVERING LOST DREAMS Saturday 17 March 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: For his anger endureth but a moment in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. Psalms 30:5 Read: Exodus 3:1-10 W hile most people have lost one or two crucial stakes in life, a few have lost everything. One person who went through this experience was job. Yet, he did not commit suicide. Have you lost so much that you feel you can no longer stand up to measure up with your colleagues again as a result, you think you should end your life? Don’t! Never try it! Suicide is not an option! If job had taken the path of suicide, he would not have witnessed his restoration. He would never have become a Bible hero. He would never have seen the end of the saga. Beloved, in that unpleasant state of loss, denial, rejection, disappointment and sorrow, there is another side. Soon, you will see the other side. All who took the path of suicide never saw the beautiful si...
