TOPIC: PROSPERITY ≠ GODLINESS   MEMORISE :  Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1 Timothy 6:17   READ : Luke 12:16-21  16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.   MESSAGE Many years ago, a fellow bel...

KEEP HOPE INTACT Wednesday 27 March

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
Memorise: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil. Hebrews 6:19
Read: Hebrews 6:17-20
If you lose all your earthly possessions but retain your hope for a better tomorrow, all will be well. But if you lose hope, you have lost everything. One important instrument ships have is the anchor. When they get to a particular destination and want to stop, they will release the anchor. The waves may toss the ship here and there but it will not get beyond a particular circumference permitted by the chain tied to the anchor. By the use of an anchor, the wind and waves of the sea are unable to have their way with the ship – i.e. to carry it to an undesirable location in an uncontrolled manner. Today’s memory verse compares hope to an anchor of the soul that keeps it intact in spite of very contrary winds and circumstances. May your anchor of hope remain intact in Jesus name.
Hope brings expectation. The result you get from your effort with anything is at most times a function of the expectation you earlier had. Expectation is a forerunner of achievements. Most people have good and strong expectations of life but when the winds of adversity, doubts and fears begin to blow, quite a number of them may shift from strong expectations to weak expectations. Some may drift totally from expectation to mere wishes, while others may resign themselves to fate saying: “If God wills, let Him prosper me”. Such statement shows they are no longer keen on the blessing. Their drive is diminished. Yet, a few will still hold on to their original desires and may even hold on more firmly as the circumstances get tougher. Like they say, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. All who stood out as heroes of faith were people who retained their hopes in the midst of adversity. Today, they are heavenly celebrities and we can learn from them. Is your hope for a better future still intact? Do you believe even when you do not have a kobo in your pocket right now that you are more than a millionaire? Keep your hope intact. Your life depends on it!
PRAYER POINT:
Father, whatever you may allow me pass through in life, please let my hope in You never shift, for You are my only hope!
