TOPIC: GOD WILL EMPOWER YOU MEMORISE : “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” - (2 Peter 1:3) READ: Isaiah 41:10-13 (KJV) 10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 11 Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. 12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. MESSAGE : In John 20:21, Jesus Christ said, “...as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.” In Matthew 10:40, He said, “He that receiveth you re

CONTENDING WITH GOD Tuesday 1 May 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom. Proverbs 13:10 Read: James 4:6-7 A part from impure thoughts and cravings of the body, another area you must exert your victory over the flesh is pride. As stated in the memory verse, a proud person is always in contention – fighting with those he thinks he is better than; such a fellow will do everything to show that he is better than them. The proud is always in competition with those who appear better off, just to prove a point that he or she is superior. In doing this, the proud will make derogatory statements about such people and cut them to size just to show that he knows it better or can do it better. The proud finds it difficult to acknowledge the sincere work or effort of others because he thinks such will displace him from being on top. The proud sees himself or herself as number one in all things. Apart from contending with me

SUN OR MOON? Monday 30 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. Genesis 1:16 Read: Genesis 1:14-18 B efore God created you, He knew He was going to make somebody called you with all your antecedents. Know unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. Acts 15:18 This is possible only because He is the Alpha and Omega. Revelation 1:8 says: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. In other words, He is the eternal past, the present and the eternal future. Existence in its totality is wrapped up in Him. Everything meets together in Him hence, Colossians 1:17 says: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Moreover, our God is a God of purpose and order. For instance, in Genesis1:16-18, He created the sun to rul

DIVINE INSPIRATION Sunday 29 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. Job 32:8 Read: Job 32:7-9 O ur God is not only great but He is also merciful, gracious, slow to anger and rich in mercy (Psalms 103:8). When He stands, the earth trembles. Romans 9:10-15 says He decides who to extend mercy to and who to deny His mercy and nobody can query Him. He does as He pleases. When Peter and Judas were to go through tough trials of faith, He prayed for the former but told the latter to go ahead with His evil plot (Luke 21:21-33). From 2 Samuel 12:24-25 I believe that when Solomon was born, God loved him and as a result, God determined to make him great. That was why God prompted him to do what nobody else had done so that He could have a reason to give him a level of wisdom that nobody else had got. When the God of grace is about to be gracious to an individual, to give no room for Him t

THE MOST HIGH Saturday 28 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalms 91:1 Read: Psalms 91:1-3 I t is important to meditate on the awesomeness of our God. When you catch the revelation of how great our God is, your problems will pale in comparison. Besides being King of kings and Lord of lords, our God is also the Most High because Philippians 2:9 says He was given a name that is above every other name. If you have a problem that is identified by a name, it is below the name of Jesus and therefore will be solved at the application of the name of Jesus. His throne is also above every other throne because it is in the Heaven of Heavens far above all principalities and powers. In addition, His army is larger and stronger than any other army know to men and spirits. He controls all the hosts both in Heaven and on earth. He is so powerful that His influence extends to all spheres, w

HE PROTECTS Friday 27 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Psalms 91:7 Read: Psalms 121:3-8 W hat a father does goes a long way in affecting the life of a child. Our Heavenly Father does not only neutralize weapons designed against His children, He also protects them from harm. In the 50’s while l was still very young, we had mining activities going on in my village and the roads were very narrow. Nigeria was still under colonial rule then. Normally, white men came in a jeep to collect the gold that the miners got. They were so powerful in those days that the villagers believed that if they killed your child, you have to tell them “thank you” so that you will not be sent to prison. For this reason they were dreaded. One day, my sister and l were returning from the farm when we suddenly heard the sound of a jeep coming at top speed. My sister immediately grabbed m

THE INDISPENSABLE GOD Thursday 26 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and l in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15-5 Read: Malachi 4:1-2 W e understand from science that human and plant life depends very much on the sun. If the sun was taken away, nobody would survive on earth, for without the sun, there will be no vegetation and all water would freeze. We also understand from scripture that Christ is our sun, for it is written: But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. Malachi 4:2 It is therefore follows that no believer can live the Christian life without the sun of Righteousness. This was why Jesus said “… Without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). Jesus Christ is indispensable to every believer in everything. He is indispensable not only to us, b

DON'T DOUBT Wednesday 25 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matthew 14:31 Read: Job 19:25-26 I f there was someone who knew famine, it was Job. He experienced famine virtually in every area of his life. Different servants came bringing him evil news. At a point, he would hear no more because all that came was evil reports. From one bad news to the other yet, after he seemed to have lost everything, including the support of his wife, he confessed his hope in God’s Word. He said: For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall l see God: Job 19:25-26 In that unbearable famine situation, Job confessed the Word of God He knew and in finality declared that in spite of everything he was going to see God. God’s W

GOD THE BELLY Tuesday 24 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things. Philippians 3:19 Read: Philippians 3:17-19 A part from impure thoughts, another area you should exert your authority over is cravings of the body. As Christians, there should be nothing your body desires that you cannot do without. When you find yourself getting seriously attached to an earthly thing, so much so that it’s almost becoming an obsession, then it’s time to fast off such a thing. Philippians 3:19 speaks of some people who are so carried away by the cravings of their body that they have began to worship it. Is your belly your God? For some people, it is. If you cannot fast because you do not want to skip one or more meals, watch it! Your belly is becoming your God. Some people are so used to food that except they are sleeping, you will find them eating something. This has made many obes

HEEDING EARLY WARNINGS? Monday 23 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. 2 Corinthians 2:9 Read: Acts 12:18-23 S everal people have missed the mark through carelessness and a wrong attitude. One of such persons was Herod (Acts 12:1-23). First, he killed somebody who was very dear to GOD .Then locked up another in prison. But with the prison doors intact and all guards in place, the man was nowhere to be found. That was enough to send him some signals that the God of that prisoner was powerful and capable of doing mysterious things. Yet he failed to heed the warning signs. If he had, he would not have got the disgrace of his life. From this we learn that God gives warnings to people through certain deeds to prevent more drastic judgment. The plagues in Egypt are a case in point. The Lord warned a particular minister not to seduce the wife of another believer. He refused to

ONE ENCOUNTER Sunday 22 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. Genesis 32:26 Read: Genesis 32:24-28 S ometimes, all you need to do in order to get your miracle is to praise Him. Many years ago, we were holding a crusade at Ebute Metta, Lagos (South West Nigeria). As instructed of God, l mounted the stage that evening and announced to those present that we are not praying for anybody but that we were going to dance and praise God. Thereafter, a woman who doctors had written off as dead was brought in a car to the crusade. She met my deputy and requested for prayers because she was dying. The man told her the Lord had said that all they were to do that night was to sing and praise God. The woman asked him, “I can’t even stand, how would I dance?” Eventually she tried to comply with the directive. She managed to disemback from the car, supported by two people, she move

THE UNSTOPPABLE GOD Saturday 21 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye   Memorize : Yea, before the day was l am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: l will work, and who shall let it? Isaiah 43:13  Read: Genesis 18:9-14  Except the Lord of Lords cause things to happen, nothing will. In your life the lord will cause things to work out for good. It is explicit from today’s memory verse that another implication of the title Lord of lords is that once He decides to act, nobody can stop or hinder Him. The lord has decided to bless you this season and nothing will stop Him, not even your doubts. You could laugh in unbelief like Sarah, rather than that stopping Him, it will propel Him to do the impossible in your life (Genesis 18:9-14). Your doubt or unbelief cannot hold back the hands of the Lord of lords. Saying, “It is too late” cannot stop Him. When Jesus got to Bethany to raise Lazarus from the dead, one of his sister said, lord you came too late yet Lazarus was brought back to life

GOD FRUSTRATES SATANIC DEVICES Friday 20 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish. Isaiah 44:25 Read: Isaiah 44:24-26 T he one you have as a father determines the number of doors that can open to you. A friend of mine was coming from America to attend our Convention but decided to stop over in Kenya thinking it would be easier to get a visa there. On arrival, he was told to wait for three days. He told them that the convention he was going for would have ended by then. Then somebody asked him, “which Convention are you talking about?”, “The convention of Redeemed Christian Church of God”, he replied. The officer then retorted: “You should have said that earlier”. An hour later, he got his visa. Are you a bona fide child of God? If you are not, give your life to Jesus today! Has a particular door you have been knocking refused to open? In the name of Jesus

MEETING NEEDS Thursday 19 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 Read: Philippians 4:19-20 O ur God is a gracious Father. He crowns His children with glory, and as Consuming Fire, burns anyone that wants to mess around with their royalty and honour. Three of God’s children, Crowned by God with glory found themselves in such situation one day. A king, who virtually ruled the world of their day, thought too highly of himself and wanted to rubbish their glory. He dispatched some hefty men to tie them and hurl them into a burning fiery furnace. At the end, the men he sent were roasted by the fire he set up, while the Consuming Fire was with His children inside the fire to protect them and His glory upon them. They eventually walked majestically out of the furnace with promotion and increased glory (Daniel 3: 1-30). This season, any plan to touch God’s glory on your life s

WORD OF HOPE Wednesday 18 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but l hope in thy word. Psalms 119:81 Read: Psalms 119:73-80 A t the peak of the famine in Samaria described in 2 Kings 6:25-30, the elders and the king sought help from the Lord by going to the house of Elisha. Immediately, Elisha spoke a prophetic word that there will be a shift from their existing extreme hardship to extreme abundance and it was so. In the name that is above every other name, I decree that God is moving you from your current unpleasant situation to a positive extreme state within the next 48 hours! From 2 Kings 7:1-2, we learn that God is aware of the situation of famine that His children go through. Jesus confirms this in Matthew 6:8: Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. God knows your situation and he knows your needs ever before they are voiced. If God is not responsible for a famine, then

DOMINATE YOUR THOUGHTS Tuesday 17 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ. Philippians 4:7 Read: Philippians 4:7-8 T he greatest battles of life occur in the heart. If you are not defeated in your heart, it will be pretty difficult for any external enemy to defeat you. Why? If your heart is pure, God will easily fill that heart and be with you. As a result, any battle that comes your way will have the One on your inside to contend with. But when you are controlled by impure thoughts, God is at the sideline, leaving demons to have a field day (Acts 5:3). To be triumphant over your thoughts, be very cautious about the kind of thought you permit henceforth. Say No to any thought that does not pass the test of Philippians 4:8. If an idea accommodates any iota of lie or dishonesty, don’t dwell on it. If it is impure or unjust, reject it vehemently. If it is not good or cannot glorify God, reje

ANOTHER NEBUCHADNEZZAR? Monday 16 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation: which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. Hebrews 2:3 Read: Daniel 4:19-30 B esides King Saul and Samson, another Bible character who missed it out of carelessness or insensitivity was King Nebuchadnezzar. God gave him a very disturbing dream. He got its interpretation and was advised on how to prevent its adverse connotation, yet he did nothing about it for one whole year. Wherefore, O king, Let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquility. Daniel 4:27. He was shown the problem and given the solution, yet for so long he did nothing about it until the judgment came upon him. The seven years of madness could have been averted! Don’t be so quick to condemn this king! We have

WHAT A GREAT GOD! Sunday 15 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8. Read: Matthew 15: 21-28 T he first time l read 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 after l became born again, I felt Paul was talking about me because l could recall what l used to be before the Lord saved me. I believe some of you might have felt like that too. Our God can do in a day what a man cannot do in a thousand years. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8 Our God is indeed very great, when He stops to simply say “Thank you”, you will be left in amazement as was experienced by Peter in Luke 5:1-7. Matthew 15:21-28 reveals that a crumb from His table is enough to liberate the captives. A little crumb is enough to solve your problems. Many years ago, when l was quite young, we

HE MAKES THINGS HAPPEN Saturday 14 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build It: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psalms 127:1 Read: Exodus 15:22-25 O ur God is not only the King of kings but also the Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16). A lord is someone who makes things happen. For instance, a landlord is not just the owner of a piece of land, but also the one who has put a house on the land. Anybody can own a piece of land but before the fellow can be called a landlord, he must have performed the feat of building a house on the land. Likewise, in the valley of dry bones, God said that the reason He will make dry bones to live again is to establish His lordship over His people ( Ezekiel 37:13). As Lord, He makes things happen. He can reverse the irreversible. All those major miracles which took places at different times and seasons in the Bible were simply a mark of the Lord in action. In Exodus 14:2

HE PROVIDES HOUSES TOO! Friday 13 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. Exodus 1:21. Read: Exodus 1:15-21 O ver 30 years ago, we received an invitation to attend Kenneth Hagin’s camp meeting in America. My father in the Lord, Pa Akindayomi was to go with me and four others but we could not secure accommodation and we knew nobody there. While we were wondering whether to go or not, l said, “If Jesus has gone to prepare mansions for us in Heaven, it will not be too difficult for Him to provide us a room in America”. So we set off on our journey. As we arrived at the airport, one of my friends was at the corner phoning some hotels about 30 kilometers away, but they were all fully booked. After a while, I asked him why he was calling distant hotels when we could not afford the cost of transportation to such locations. I insisted he called up hotel closest to the venue of the programme. He looked at me as if l was

HOW FIERY IS YOUR WALL OF FIRE? Tursday 12 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her. Zechariah 2:5 Read: 2 Kings 6: 8-17 I t’s so gratifying to know that God promises to build a wall of fire round about His children. Satan alluded to this when he sought for permission to attack job (Job 1:9-10). At the time the enemies surrounded Elisha, God opened the eyes of his servant and he saw that innumerable horses and chariots of fire were around Elisha. Those besieging them were themselves surrounded by a heavenly army. God has not changed. He still employs His fire as means of protecting His children today. If you are a true child of God, living daily to please Him, God’s fire will protect you. Do not be anxious because you cannot see it; your enemies’ see it and they quake and hold back or else they will be roasted. Any enemy who wants to attack you and your loved ones from today shall be roasted

WHERE LIES YOUR CONFIDENCE? Wednesday 11 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes. Psalms 118:9. Read: Psalms 118:7-9 T he famine in Samaria described in 2 kings 6:25-33 was so bad that cannibalism became an option for survival. A woman went to seek help from the king. But how could a king who could not help himself assist another? In a time of famine, looking up to man can be a very futile endeavor and yield a frustrating experience. While everyone in the city including the king panicked, Elisha sat comfortably in his house. God supernaturally made a way for him in the famine. If you fear God, He can single you out and provide for you while others are experiencing a famine. God can bless your business beyond measure that other people will come to ask how you are doing it. That shall be your portion this season in Jesus name. While Elisha was relaxed in his house, the elders of the city came to meet him for help. Eventually, the k

GUARD YOUR HEART Tuesday 10 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23. Read: Proverbs 4:20-27 F rom Matthew 5:8 we understand that the one who is pure in heart is blessed. Are you single or married? Are you married but your spouse is separated from you by geographical location? What do you think about when you go to bed? Do you engage yourself in impure thoughts? Do you know that some people assist the tempter? How you may ask? After they have fed their eyes with lust inducing items during the day, they recline to ponder over them later and may find themselves practicing such ungodly acts. At the end, blame falls on the devil. The devil usually gets all the blame when things go wrong. Besides being blessed, the pure in heart are assured of seeing God. Of what use is the Christian race if at the end of the journey you are denied the privilege of seeing God? The reason it is so essential your heart is pu

HOW SENSITIVE ARE YOU? Monday 9 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come. Isaiah 32:10 Read: Judges 16:4-6 N ot everyone will be able to enter into the rest prepared for them even after years of waiting. Some were so close yet for certain reasons they missed their time. May you not miss your time in Jesus name. One such person, who missed out on a great destiny was King Saul (1 Samuel 15:10-30). He was very shallow in his walk with God. Nothing ever bothered him except to be honoured by men. Just imagine: what if he had repented sincerely and obeyed God completely? We would have been hearing of the exploits of King Saul and not David. David came onto the scene after Saul failed. How is your attitude to God and the things of the Spirit? A particular minister of God was being considered to head a parish. He was dutiful but he was never bothered about spiritual matters. He ha

WHAT IS YOUR RESPONSE TO GRACE? Sunday 8 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: But by the grace of God l am what l am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but l laboured more abundantly than they all; yet not l, but the grace of God which was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:10 Read: 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 A t the first Holy Communion service organized by the Lord, not one of His disciples was born again because Jesus was yet to go to the cross. In spite of this, He broke the bread and gave them wine too. He did it even when He knew that same night they were going to be scattered from Him and their leader was going to deny Him. Grace first gives a helping hand. Every time you partake of the Holy Communion, remember you are there only because of grace and do not fail to thank the God of grace. However never let the grace be in vain. Don’t abuse the grace too. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Romans 6:1 Sin does not make God to release more

CONTROLLER OF KINGS Saturday 7 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: The King’s heart is in the hand of LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Proverbs 21:1 Read: Daniel 4:24-27 A s the King of kings, God wields His power, influence and authority over other kings. Daniel 4:25 says God is the true king maker as He determines who ascends the throne and who does not. Psalm 75:7 says He can set up a king and pull down another king. Proverbs 21: 1 says He has the hearts of kings in his hands and turns them wherever He wants. Kings control things while God control the kings. One implication of God being the King of kings is that all power brokers and controllers of men are at His beck and call and He can use them to back you up in fulfilling your destiny. Joseph is an example of someone that experienced this. God revealed His plan to make him great in two separate but similar dreams. Joseph was sure he was not created to die prematurely or to become victim of cir

THE ESSENCE OF GOD (Part 2) Friday 6 April 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye Memorise: The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof: the world and they that dwell therein. Psalms 24:1. Read: Psalms 24:1-2 T he fire of the Holy Spirit is not only for the selective destruction of your enemies while guarantying your protection; it’s also for consuming stone. This we see in 1 Kings 18:38-39. Elijah, after challenging the prophets of Baal to a duel on Mount Carmel, prayed. The fire of the Holy Ghost fell on the stones where he offered sacrifice and consumed the sacrifice and stone on which they were offered. The children of Israel seeing this fell on their faces and decleared the Lordship of Jehovah. Today, the fire of the Holy Ghost consumes hearts of stone as promised by God in Ezekiel 36:26. Fire additionally is required in the bonding and welding of strong metals. When the Holy Spirit descended on the heads of the apostles and disciples on the day of Pentecost, it was not on
