Memorise: How
shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation: which at the first began to
be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.
Hebrews 2:3
Read:
Daniel 4:19-30
Besides
King Saul and Samson, another Bible character who missed it out of carelessness
or insensitivity was King Nebuchadnezzar. God gave him a very disturbing dream.
He got its interpretation and was advised on how to prevent its adverse
connotation, yet he did nothing about it for one whole year.
Wherefore, O king, Let my counsel be
acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine
iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy
tranquility. Daniel 4:27.
He was
shown the problem and given the solution, yet for so long he did nothing about
it until the judgment came upon him. The seven years of madness could have been
averted! Don’t be so quick to condemn this king! We have several
Nebuchadnezzar’s in our midst today. How many times have you heard that,
refusal to pay your tithe could bring devourers to you, yet you still refuse to
obey? Has the Holy Spirit been speaking to you about giving a particular car,
house, sum of money, plot of land, etc, to aid the church developmental
efforts, yet you pay deaf ears? Or has it been impressed in your spirit to
assist a particular needy brother or sister but you have continued to struggle
with the Holy Ghost on the issue? Are you not another Nebuchadnezzar?
The
difference between Nebuchadnezzar and today’s Christians is that he did not
know God at this time but we say we know God, yet we still flout His
instructions and break His commandments with complete disregard to His person.
Do believers who live in bitterness not know that their sin will take them to
hell yet they refuse to stop? Do liars and those who have turned the church
into a place of merchandise not know there are negative consequences for these
actions? Like Nebuchadnezzar before them, they know, just that they have hardened
their hearts to the point of destruction. In what areas are you resisting God
today? Repent and immediately obey His voice lest you become history!
ACTION
POINT:
Examine
yourself carefully and identify any area your obedience is incomplete or where
you are yet to heed His warning and take immediate steps to fix them.
Bible
in one year: Isaiah 4-6
