Memorize: When thou passest through the waters, I
will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee:
when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned: neither
shall the flame kindle upon thee. Isaiah 43:2
Read: Isaiah 43:1-2
Among the challenges of man today are the need for protection and
preservation. Do you know that God, who had gone ahead of man has
adequately provided for these needs to be met? To protect is to ensure
that an individual is not harmed or injured. Protection may require an
immediate action.
Everybody needs protection in the midst of so much insecurity. Today,
many go to bed with one eye opened. The slightest noise jolts them up
and they may keep a vigil for the rest of the night. Is it on the roads
that people are safe? Ladies are raped at dark spots or bus stops by the
roadside at night.
What about accidents claiming lives of those traveling by air, road,
rail or even sea? To protect themselves from such dangers, many have
resorted to using fetish means, which unknown to them are more dangerous
than the evil they are trying to prevent. The surest place to obtain
safety is from God.
In Isaiah 54:15-17, God says when you come under His protective
cover, He will ensure that the instruments that the enemies have devised
against you will fail to work - be they physical or spiritual. Security
men and armed policemen may prevent armed robberies but can they
prevent spiritual (invisible) thieves?
That is why you need to rely on God's unfailing promises for total
protection. In addition, God preserves. To preserve is to maintain the
original state of a thing. Preservation entails protection and much
more. To preserve starts from the immediate but usually it is a
long-term commitment.
For instance, to be preserved blameless until Christ returns is
something of a life time. In preservation, harm is prevented on a
continuous basis; it is not an ad hoc protective measure. Yet, God says
He will preserve you. Parents take care of their children but at some
point in life, they leave their parents to live on their own.
At such a time they are outside the protective cover of their parents
except by prayers and counseling. Yet, God says, “When no parent is
there or when both parents have died, I will still be there for you,
looking out for you and keeping you worthy to enter my Kingdom”.
In Isaiah 43:1-2, God says as our Creator and Redeemer, it is His
duty to continuously preserve us since He has a right of ownership over
us. The Lord will preserve you. He will be there for you anytime you
need Him. He will keep you to the end. Just trust Him.
PRAYER POINT: Thank God for protecting and
preserving you, your family and the church of God. Pray that He will
sustain you, your family and the church of God until He comes.
