TOPIC: THE ARMOUR OF LIGHT I   MEMORISE :  The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:12   READ : Romans 13:12-14 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.   MESSAGE Many believers are dealing with darkness inside their hearts because their hearts are full of bitterness and anger. Some of these believers are angry with God, their spouses, children, parents, etc. I understand that the world is a wicked place, and it can be easy for bitterness to creep into your heart. However, instead of allowing bitterness to envelop you, you must open up yo...

CELEBRATORY MEAL Saturday 9 June 2012

Open Heavens Devotional by Pastor E.A. Adeboye
Memorise: And l, if l be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. John 12:32.
Read: John12:31-33
There are different types of meals. Meals are usually eaten day to day to survive. But there are meals taken to mark an important occasion such as marriage, house warming, child’s naming or office promotion. Such meals are celebratory meals. This type of meal is not taken every day but once in a while, as occasion demands. The Holy Communion falls within this class. It is a celebratory meal. It is no ordinary meal. To take an ordinary meal, the whole family could sit at the dinning table at home to eat family sized bread and drink some wine. We do not have to embark on a journey just to take a regular meal. But the communion meal is worth travelling for.
Why is the Communion meal special? It is special because the Holy Communion is a celebration of victory- victory over sin. 1 John 1:7 says the Blood cleanses us from all sins. When you take the wine, you are indirectly saying, Thank God my sins are gone. The Holy Communion is also a celebration of victory over sickness. As you eat the bread, you are equally saying, Thank God for healing all my sickness and diseases because His body was broken for me. The stripes that broke the body of Jesus delivered healing to us. As you drink the wine, you celebrate victory over the devil because Revelation 12:11 says they overcame the devil by the blood of the lamb. Similarly, when you take the blood you celebrate your victory over bondage. Imagine the termination of over 400 years of slavery in Egypt by one meal! If you take this meal and you remain under satanic bondage, something is wrong somewhere. In addition, when you partake of the Holy Communion, you celebrate your victory over stagnation because He said in John 12:32, if He is lifted from the earth to the cross, He will draw men to himself. His crucifixion has brought about your promotion. As you eat the bread, remember that since He has been lifted high, you too have been lifted above stagnation. That is why your delayed promotion has no choice but to come to you this season
PRAYER POINT:
Father, thank you for the victories you have given me through the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
