TOPIC: WHO DO PEOPLE SAY YOU ARE? MEMORISE : “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” - (Matthew 16:13) READ: Matthew 16:13-16 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. MESSAGE : Today’s topic is a question you must be conscious of. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus asked His disciples whom people said that He was. He wasn’t confused about His identity; He knew who He was, but He was concerned about how people perceived Him. You must be conscious of how people perceive you too. People will only relate with you based on what they think about you and not what you th

HARDENED BY GOD? Friday 15 June 2012

Memorise: Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. Isaiah 66:5
Read: Exodus 4:21-23
On the Mount of Transfiguration, God said Jesus Christ is His Son that must be heard (Matthew 17:5). Hearing Him is most important for everyone who comes into this world. Why must you hear Him? It is because He has something to say to you in every area of your life that can be of benefit to you, which you may not yet know. You need to also hear Him because He holds the key to your success in life and ministry. You need to hear Him because being your creator and the creator of the earth; He knows what to do to fix any problem that arises concerning His creation. From today, the Lord will grant you grace to hear Jesus and obey promptly.
Moreover, Jesus must be heard because failing to hear and comply with His instructions can lead to terrible consequences. If you doubt this, ask Pharaoh. God told pharaoh to let His people go but he said he did not recognise the God of the Hebrews. God persisted in His request and Pharaoh persisted in his resistance. At some point, God said since Pharaoh had hardened his heart, he would be divinely assisted to do so the more (Exodus 4:21-23). By the time God hardened Pharaoh’s heart, he became like a robot that was programmed to resist God. As far as God was concerned, Pharaoh had already perished even before he got to the Red Sea. God also instructed King Saul to wipe out the Amalekites but he spared their King and some animals. That disobedience cost him his crown. Many blessings have been lost because of disobedience or partial obedience by those God loves. Whenever you harden your heart, you get into trouble. In Hosea 5:6-9, God said Ephraim shall be desolate because he had earlier hardened his heart by being joined to his idols. God therefore left him alone. May God not leave you alone! Do you take time to hear Him? Do you provoke Him to speak to you? Do you wait on Him, doing nothing else but just waiting on Him in fasting, prayer, worship, praise and thanksgiving? Have you complied with all He has spoken to you? Your response to God’s Word shows the kind of heart you have. What type of heart do you have?
ACTION POINT:
Most victories are lost because we refuse to wait on Him until He speaks to us. Ask for grace to seek Him until you find Him.
